Why we use Infrared Goggles to assess and treat vertigo and vestibular disorders

Lazy

Infrared goggles, also termed ‘Video frenzels’ are used as part of our comprehensive vestibular assessments at Advanced Vestibular Clinics. The goggles use infrared cameras so we can keep you in the dark but still observe your eyes closely.

nn

There is a link between your eyes and your ears . This means vestibular problems can cause involuntary eye movements. These eye movements are often stronger when you are in the dark as in the light you can focus your eyes and suppress these types of eye movements more easily.

Using infrared goggles helps our vestibular physiotherapists to determine whether the problem is related to your inner ear (vestibular system) or brain (central nervous system) and helps us to be more accurate and efficient in our diagnoses.

Infrared goggles are just one of the useful tools we have available to our experienced vestibular physiotherapists at Advanced Vestibular Clinics
